Cleanliness is next to ALDIness Part II -- Glass Cleaner and Paper Towels

I know you've all been waiting on pins and needles to read another cleaning product post so let's get to it! Another twofer is on the way. Ladies and gentlemen I give you.....Freshine Glass Cleaner and Boulder Paper Towels!

Reunited and it feels so good.

As you may recall, there are some products that I buy based solely on price. Well for those of you keeping a list of those items, you can add paper towels to dish washing detergent and laundry detergent. However, when it comes to multi-use cleaners, I was born a 409 man and I'll die a 409 man so the Freshine made me a little nervous but....

The Freshine worked surprisingly well if you need to clean glass or counter tops or someone has fainted. It is chock full of ammonia as it clearly states on the label. But it cleaned everything I sprayed it on and it didn't streak too much. It's just that ammonia smell is a little overpowering. The directions for use are kind of a pain in the ass too: "Unplug electrical appliances before use." Do you know how many electrical appliances I have? I can't be investing half a day unplugging everything I own before I clean a mirror. And who even knows how to unplug the dishwasher? It gets power from some magical place where kittens ride unicorns as far as I can tell. Also "keep out of the reach of children and pets." My pets don't really go grabbing a lot stuff since I don't live at a primate center and I thought the main reason to have children was to get them to do your dirty work. I skipped all those CAUTION:'s and just started cleaning and no electrical appliances, children, or pets were harmed. ALDI, I think you're being a little anal.

The Boulder Premium Paper towels worked fine. They're paper and towely. I use paper towels mostly as napkins and these wiped the food right off my face with no problem. I am confused about the icons on the label though.

 What the?

I get the "3 ROLLS" but what's with the parachute, can you use them to sky dive? Sooooo you can't use the Freshine without hiring an electrician but you can trust these paper towels to return you safely to the ground from 5000 feet? I'm skeptical. And the...dotty thingamajig, what is that? Anyway, these things works liked any other paper towel. But they were super inexpensive at three for only $1.89.

So the Freshine Glass Cleaner (just $.89!!) gets an L not because I'll buy it again, I'm sticking with my beloved 409, but because I don't have any ill will towards it and you should get some if you use this sort of cleaner or are prone to fainting spells. The Boulder Premium paper towels also get an L for will buy again for sure!

Stray thoughts
  • In the background of the Freshine half of the photo you can see the iPod/Radio thing I bought at ALDI years ago. I give that an A++++ for being awesome!
