Slop, Sloppy Joes

Alright, I think it's time we sit down and discuss Sloppy Joes (Joe's?). What is the deal with...wait, no. Sloppy Joes are boring. I'm not going to waste my time or more importantly your time, dear reader, with an entire paragraph about Sloppy Joes.

Similarly, Brookdale Sloppy Joe Sauce Original is boring. (Perhaps my gentleman caller would have been a better reviewer of this item since he is more of a meat and a sandwich expert than I am. But seeing as how the pictures were on my phone, I will soldier on.)

GC used ground turkey instead of beef and then classed it up with chopped onions and peppers. Placed on some Manager's Special buns from Kroger, this meal was one of our most recession-friendly yet.  If memory serves me correctly, I believe these sandwiches elicited a "hmm...not bad" from me and an "almost indistinguishable from Manwich" from the GC. We both polished off our sandwiches.

For $0.85, I would buy and eat this again!  It gets an "L".

Also, I know this is an ALDI blog, but I just want to give a shout out to all the managers at all the Krogers. Your Manager's Specials are a gift to us all. (These buns were $0.99!)

  1. I'm a long time consumer at aldi, but the sloppy Joe in a can is way off par. Not many things I dislike at this store this is one. I would recommend any one who wants to make sloppy joes find a homemade instructions witch you can get all the ingredients at aldi.
